Community Services

Fuel: ULP and Diesel Fuel is available 24hrs a day. The KTY Fuel Facility is situated on Sutherland Street, Trayning and is Eftpos Card operated. It is owned and operated by Sovereign Fuel.

Library: The Shire has a library service located at the Shire Offices. It is available during office hours - 8:30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. The library is administered by the Shire and the State Library and Information Service. There is a wide range of Books, Videos, DVD’s, and other resources available.

Churches: Catholic and Uniting Church’s are located in the Shire of Trayning, regular services are advertised in the district paper "Ninghan News".

Airstrip: An airstrip is located out of Kununoppin for the Royal Flying Doctor, with permission from the Shire and Kununoppin Hospital it may be used for light aircraft.

Local Newspaper: "Ninghan News" a local newspaper which is published the third Monday of each month except for the month of January. For details please contact the Editor on (08) 9683 1001.

Trayning Primary School: The students that attend Trayning come from the communities of Trayning, Kununoppin and Yelbeni. Currently there are 14 students enrolled at Trayning Primary School.

Our school has a teaching staff of 3 members catering to the needs of students from Kindergarten to Year 6. It consists of a Principal and 2 Classroom Teachers. The school also has 3 School Support Staff who perform a variety of tasks that support the students and teaching staff.

The school is structured around an existing traditional type primary school of 3 permanent classrooms in a well looked after 1950s era building. The school is located within a picturesque water wise garden with an oval. The School Council is the main decision-making body in the school. In addition, the school is supported by an active P&C group who raise funds for use with the students. The school is also actively supported by the Trayning Shire Council.

Trayning Primary School forms part of the Ninghan cell of schools which join together regularly to participate in sporting, cultural and social events allowing our students to form friendships with those from other schools.

Hospital: The Hospital is situated at Kununoppin which is approximately 11km away. It has general hospital facilities along with Frail Aged Accommodation on site.

Medical practice

Doctor: The Doctor, resident in Kununoppin, holds surgery at the Kununoppin Hospital. For appointments contact the Kununoppin Hospital on (08) 9683 0204 or book through the HotDoc App.

Ambulance: St. John Ambulance Centre is located next to the Medical Centre and has one ambulance on stand-by. This station is manned by a volunteer team which provides a valuable service to the whole community. There is also an ambulance in Trayning, Bencubbin, Beacon and Mukinbudin which all come under our sub centre.

Podiatry: Child walking evaluation, posture, gait assessment, sport podiatry and more. Appointments can be made at hospital.

Community Mental Health Nurse: A mental health nurse is available for counselling by contacting the Kununoppin hospital.

Aged care

Ninghan Lodge - Nursing Home: The Ninghan Lodge is a part of the south wing at Kununoppin and Districts Hospital and was opened on the 8th April 1999, it has a seven bed capacity and provides all medical services, podiatry, physio, Allied Health, outings and family BBQ's.

Home Help for the Elderly: Arrangements can be made by contacting the hospital or the extended care nurse. Home help and care is available to those who are recovering from illness, or the elderly. Meals-on-wheels, house cleaning and laundry are some services available.

Senior Citizens: The hospital provides a meal and organises day trips and entertainment for Seniors each Thursday (excluding school holidays), between 10.00 am and 2p.m. Some activities enjoyed may be Bingo, scrabble and indoor golf etc.
